Doris Lillian (Filligane) Taylor

Doris Filligane Taylor, 95, of Kinston passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Harmony Hall.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Teachey; husband, Fred Taylor, and her parents, Zack and Lossie Bell Jones.

Doris was born in South Carolina and lived in Kinston for most of her life. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy was being surrounded by her family. She was a homemaker and took pride in keeping a tidy home. She was a petite woman and was known for her tenacity to live a full life of love, care, and friendship. Doris was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She loved to dance and danced every chance that she could at the Galaxy. Doris enjoyed using her computer, mainly for playing games, staying up to date with news, current events, and country music. The grandchildren’s fondest memory of Doris was her giving them all oatmeal cookies.

Left to cherish her memories are children, Virigina Taylor of Kinston, Freddie Smith and husband Tony of Kinston and Larry Taylor and wife Karen of New Bern; her grandchildren, Kenneth Taylor, Timothy Taylor, Laura Koslowski and her husband Scott, Donna Sutton, Shannon Johnson, Ryan Taylor and his wife Jamie, Lisa Thompson, Ed Smith and his wife Colleen, Toni Fowler and her husband Adam; Doris had 15 great-grandchildren, Justin (Frances), Dusty (Hannah), Amber, Brad, Chase (Kalene), Brock, Nathan (Alexis), Nick (Charlotte), Taylor, Harley, Ed Jr., Wyatt, Jojo, Ryan, Kaci; and 11 great-great grandchildren, Ella, Owen, Sawyer, Marshall, Willow, Karoline, Hayleigh, Connor, Shelby, Coltin, and Willow.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Pinelawn Memorial Park with Pastor Gerald Fowler officiating.
