Brenda Fay Thompson, 69, of Kinston began her walk with her Heavenly Father on Monday, February 2, 2026.
She was always outgoing, fun loving, and the crazy lady that everyone came to love.
All of her kids’ friends knew her as “Ma Brenda” and she became a second Mama to everyone.
She spent her life loving her kids, and when the grandkids came, she devoted her life and love to all of them and to Dusty, her loving dog who was by her side for the last 14 years.
She also loved her work families at Ma’s Hot Dog House and Archie’s/Gigi’s.
She spent many of her years trying to figure out how to make George Strait her husband.
Brenda was preceded in death by her mother and father, Doris and L.J. (Bay) Thompson; nephew, Dave (Bug) Delk; and granddaughter, Tuesdae Summerlin.
Brenda is survived by her sister, Ann Delk; friend, Leon Peyton; son, Tommy Grady and wife Kimberly of Kinston; daughter, Tanya Peck and husband Marc of Pikeville; son, Brock Kennedy of Kinston; grandchildren, Caleb Grady, Gavin Grady, Savannah Peck, Nate Peck, Tony Peck, and Bellami Kennedy; and a few special friends, Dawanna Price, Gwen Thompson, June Packard, Charlie Gates, and too many more to name.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Tanglewood Church, beginning at 6:30 P.M. with Pastor Doug Baker officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
